A Quiet Night at Vanusa's Rock (or, How Some Guys Have All the Luck)
Scholars disagree as to the exact origin of the geographical feature found on the 9th asteroid outside of New Berux. Some ascertain that it was a monument to the Supreme Power of the ancient Cephian peoples, while others speculate that it was an early shrine to Vanusa, a fertility goddess who later became the 9th Patron of the Galactite faith. Still, some say that the asteroid does not even derive in this star system, but migrated to its current position when a comet broke apart some 10,000 years ago.
Today, though the feature has kept its mystic name, the site is known more as a gathering place for young people, particularly couples in the early stages of ‘dating.’ It’s been a nuisance for local authorities, especially those who view it as a beacon of immorality, and has recently become the subject of a dispute between several Galactite corporations, who want to develop the site for tourism, and the Parks Ministry, which wants to declare it an ‘Intergalactic Park,’ protecting it from any development.
No matter what side one may take, there is no doubt that the rock has a magnetism all its own.
